4 Ways to Magnify Your Optimism

What are the benefits of optimism?

It’s pretty much a universal consensus that 2020 was a difficult year. And as the world looks forward to 2021, everyone is hoping for less stress, and less tragedy.  While it’s impossible to predict what the future will hold, facing it with optimism is the first step towards materializing happiness.  It might not seem like it makes a difference, but living your life with a positive attitude nurtures inner strength.

 

Optimism is the Key

It improves your emotional well-being, fosters better relationships, and provides protection against adverse events. It can, in many circumstances, lead to better health… optimism is linked to greater persistence, something that everyone needs in the face of life’s challenges.”

 

Here are a few tips on how to face the new year with optimism:

 

1) Don’t Think Arbitrary Thoughts

Most people allow their brains to function on autopilot.  But this is exactly how negative thinking creeps into your mentality.  Analyze every single one of your thoughts, and prevent negativity from taking up space.

 

2) Use Positive Language

What you confess, is what you possess.  If you want good things to happen in your life, speak them into existence.  Avoid discouraging yourself by saying things which trigger doubts, fears or anxieties.

 

3) Practice Kindness

Happiness and good moods are contagious states of mind.  This is why treating other people with kindness is an indirect way of attracting happiness into your own life.  The positive energy which you project out into the world, will eventually be reflected and reciprocated back to you.

 

4) Live on One Day at a Time

When bad things happen, it’s easy to get lost in overthinking.  Unfortunately, overthinking can snowball into panic and dread.  Instead of getting ahead of yourself with hypothetical problems, focus your energy on what’s going on here and now.  Tomorrow’s worries can be sorted out when tomorrow comes.
