4 Principles to Live By When Dealing with Haters

How to deal with haters?

If you’ve ever had to deal with haters in life, you’re probably familiar with the term frustration. Especially in situations where hate is unwarranted. Dealing with haters is certainly challenging, but it’s still entirely possible to neutralize the effects of hate by responding to it wisely. Psychologist/Author James Clear advises that “It doesn’t matter how you choose to live your life…whatever you do, someone will judge you for it. There will always be haters and difficult people.” The sooner you learn to deal with haters, the more peace of mind you’re bound to enjoy.

Here are a few quick tips on how to shine on in spite of hate:

1) Keep Doing the Right Thing

Haters only have one goal in mind, to get in the way of your progress. The more potential you have for success, the more they want to tear you down. This is why you should never give them the satisfaction of seeing you fumble. Handle your business, and keep doing it well.

2) Don’t Repay Evil with Evil

If someone is capable of hating you for no reason, that’s a shortcoming on their part. Not Yours. Even though it’s tempting to seek revenge, remember that two wrongs don’t make a right. Live your life in a way that guarantees a clear conscience. With or without enemies.

3) Focus on the Bigger Picture

Human beings suffer from a psychological trait known as negativity bias. This bias deceives us into obsessing about negative things, even when negative things don’t represent the norm. Count your blessings every time someone tries to tear you down. Grateful reflection is an effective way to overshadow negativity bias with confidence.

4) Be Yourself

As a matter of mental health, learn to be comfortable in your own skin. Especially when critics try to disturb your peace. Being true to your convictions provides an emotional anchor you can use to respond to hate without compromising you values.

Conclusion

Most of the time, haters are nothing more than noisemakers. They project their own insecurities onto others as a way to cope with personal struggles. Before allowing external hate to ever have influence over you, take a step back and gain some perspective. Stay focused on your own self-worth so that haters never besiege your thoughts.  If you like what you just read from our blog, you’ll love the various informative courses, workshops and events listed on our websites and social media.
