3 Mental Hurdles to Avoid if You Want to Build Perseverance

The difference between winning and losing in life boils down to perseverance. It boils down to how well you learn from mistakes and react to difficult circumstances. Once you realize you have the power to adapt and survive in any situation, life’s problems stop being foreboding. In any case, there’s a reason why they say where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Perseverance Needs to Be Nurtured:

Cultural Psychology Lecturer Marianna Pogosyan explains, “Even during times when life feels like a stroll through blooming meadows, we humans regularly find ourselves battling against gusts and gales on our way to reaching our goals. Daily survival makes us rather skilled at finding ways to overcome ourselves, and persevere at things that are aversive and unpleasant, and yet necessary for achieving our objectives.” Here are a few common issues that get in the way of perseverance:

      I.        Self-Doubt:

Questioning your own abilities is the quickest path to self-destruction. Without a fundamental belief that you can actually make it through tough times, it’s impossible to find the strength to persevere. Instead of planting seeds of doubt in your consciousness, always plant seeds of hope.

    II.        Pessimism:

Expecting bad things to happen conditions the mind to react in a defensive way. On the other hand, expecting good things to happen conditions the mind to react in a constructive way. Constructive energy is much more instrumental in perseverance than defensive energy. Problems are solved by being proactive.

   III.        Ignorance:

Knowledge is power. But this also means that a lack of knowledge translates into powerlessness. The more people do to combat internal ignorance, the more empowered we become to withstand life’s challenges. Knowledge is an asset people should always seek with passion.

Conclusion:

Life’s problems always create an opportunity to learn from mistakes and build on experience. Never allow a difficult situation to pass by without asking yourself what you should have learned or if you are equipped to withstand a similar problem in the future. This is how you build resilience. This is how you build perseverance.
