3 Flaws Which Tend to Construct Hurdles on the Path to Success

What are the possible obstacles in the way of your career?

Did you know that having a strong moral compass is necessary to succeed in life?  Unfortunately, judging from the example set by politics and big business, it shouldn’t come as a shock that society has grown comfortable with the idea of winning at all costs.  Even when these costs include sacrificing integrity.  But things don’t have to be this way.  Life doesn’t have to be dog-eat-dog all the time. The Barrett Values Center advises that “Our values are important because they help us grow and develop. They help us to create the future we want to experience… The decisions we make are a reflection of our values and beliefs, and they are always directed towards a specific purpose.”

Here are three moral flaws which interfere with growth and progress in life:

1) Cynicism

While it’s important to practice critical thinking, beware of becoming someone who practices relentless skepticism in life.  Questioning everything at every turn only results in paralysis and self-doubt if.  Sometimes you just need to have faith.  You just need to trust that even though things don’t add up, there’s still a way to move forward and accomplish the greater good.

2) Impatience

Being impatient isn’t a harmless quirk.  Impatience is actually the root of many evils in society.  Greed is a product of impatience.  Violence is a product of impatience.  Theft is a product of impatience.  The less willing you are to accept that progress can be a slow process, the likelier it is you’ll cut corners just so you can bask in instant gratification.

3) Viciousness

Sometimes frustrations in life provoke us into feeling negative emotions.  We develop anger, and use that anger to be malicious.  The moment you start projecting internal anger on other people, you can expect relationships to break down and become dysfunctional.  Always practice kindheartedness.  Be the type of person who chooses to see the good in other people.

Conclusion

Your mental state is one of the most critical components of self-actualization.  The only way to truly transform into the best version of yourself is to follow a path in life that you can be proud of.  Make decisions you know won’t inspire guilt in future, and leave a legacy which others can inherit and build upon.  This is only possible if you understand the difference between right and wrong.  The more you choose right over wrong, the less your mistakes will haunt you as time goes by.  If you like what you just read from our blog, you’ll love the various informative courses, workshops and events listed on our websites and social media.
